Harwich and Dovercourt Choral Society was first mentioned in the press in 1891 and has been bringing pleasure to many people through its singing and social activities ever since

The only breaks in its activities occurred during the first and second World Wars. In its present form the Society has been in existence since 1921 and for many years was a member of the Essex Musical Association. In 1921 the members decided to drop Harwich from the title and the the Society became the Dovercourt Choral Society. However in 2015 it was decided to rebrand the choir and members voted to return to the original title.

The Society has regularly featured in the Harwich Festival

New members are always welcome, no auditions are necessary but some musical knowledge and the ability to sing in tune would be advantageous !
